Did you know I’m your Summer Girl? ☀🍌

That’s right... Danna Bananas here, your go-to gal for funny, quirky, and “I didn’t know I needed this” kind of stuff. And what better way to keep the sunny vibes going than with a little musical magic?

Hit play on HAIM’s “Summer Girl” below while you browse... because summer’s not over until the last banana peel drops. 🎶

In my last blog post, I mentioned Tears For Fears is one of my favourite 80's bands. Well, here's another: Simple Minds:

It has a dreamy, atmospheric feel that captures a nostalgic, romantic vision of summer. It evokes “hazy August evenings” and “the bittersweet end of the season.”

It’s essentially a new wave love letter to summer... more golden sunset than midday sunshine.

Fast forward to the summer of 2025... I saw Simple Minds, Modern English, and Soft Cell. I even reconnected with a long-time friend I hadn’t seen since my twenty-something days. He and I talked about parent care and honouring our parents, both of whom had recently passed.

Under the original video is Simple Minds performing the exact same song. I guess I should post this, especially after hearing a journalist say, “When you record concerts, you’ll never play them again.” Touché… Hear hear! I couldn’t agree more. 😉:)

Toronto, June 18th!

Summer...

Here's another summer video by the Skydiggers (saw them in Peterborough in the 90's): I Will Give You Everything. Although, not specifically a summer tune.

"I will give you everything that you’ve ever wanted... With this promise I will bring you home again…”

These lines deliver a sense of longing and devotion, but don’t explicitly evoke summertime imagery... no sun-soaked scenes or breezy moods. The track remains meaningful, yet more emotionally grounded than seasonally bright.
