Happy 50th Super Friends!

In 1973, 50 years ago, 'Super Friends' debuted. It aired until 1985.

What a super milestone! Who knew? I would blog about this show on its 50th anniversary.

Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, and Aquaman formed the Super Friends and fought against crimes.

This program was part of my Saturday morning cartoon ritual. I would stumble out of bed with my PJs, or rather, my sleepers on, grab myself a bowl of Cheerios, and plop myself on the couch in front of our huge Zenith TV. Being the youngest of four, my sister, who was close in age, watched it with me, but my older brothers, who were in their teens, were still sleeping.

My sister and I loved remaking the show and making up plays. After the all-new Super Friends Hour debuted in 1977, we thought the Wonder Twins were pretty cool. They were shapeshifting siblings. We would say, "Wonder Twins power activate... the shape of an icicle and an eagle!"

Do you remember the good old days when you would gather around the TV to watch your favourite superheroes save the world? Grab your cape, put on your mask, and get ready for a trip down memory lane to relive those nostalgic moments with Danna Bananas' Super Friends-inspired super gift ideas.

Wonder Woman was my favourite superhero, and she inspired me immensely. I loved watching Super Friends with her in it and her own TV show. It was a wonderful show that featured a strong woman with such superhuman physical strength. Having a female lead in a TV show was odd for the 1970s. I would pretend to be her, Diana Prince, and swirl (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVLJcBsD__E) around and transition into Wonder Woman. I was disappointed, though, that my clothes wouldn't turn into her red, blue, and white superhero outfit. To make up for that utter sadness, I bought the Wonder Woman costume for Halloween one year as an adult and still have it in my Halloween costume trunk. Mmm, should I be Wonder Woman this year?
