10 Best Father’s Day Activities to Spend Some Quality Time Together

20 Best Father’s Day Activities to Spend Some Quality Time Together

That special Sunday in June—June 21, 2020, to be exact—is fast approaching. If you’re like us, you’re scrambling to create a great Father’s Day befitting a great dad. Obviously, you’re going to do things like find just the right present via our Father’s Day gift guide, select an excellent Father’s Day card, and even plan to laugh at his so-bad-they’re-kind-of-good best dad jokes all day long. But why not step it up and give dear old Dad another gift—an experience that will leave lasting memories for years to come?

Sound like a tall order, especially in an age of social distancing? It’s not. We’ve got just the right activities perfect for foodie dads, wine lovers (an at-home wine tasting sounds like something the whole family can enjoy!), outdoor enthusiasts, and more. Whether he’s adventurous and outdoorsy or prefers to simply watch great outdoor adventures unfold (it’s time for an all-day marathon of Father’s Day movies!), we’ve got the right Father’s Day activity for you and yours. Keep in mind, these ideas are fun and interactive, and occasionally even delicious, but the best part of all is that any of these different Father’s Day activities allow Dad to spend real, quality time with you, which is the best present of all.

1. Have a Backyard Picnic:
Pile Dad’s favorite mains, sides treats, and beverages into a basket or cooler, grab a blanket, and head out to the nearest patch of grass for an alfresco affair.
2. Make Fondue:
Want to cook him an extra-memorable meal for Father’s Day dinner? Throw together a creative fondue menu for something different. Dip appetizers and        entrées in cheese fondue, and for dessert, bring out some melted chocolate! It’s an easy meal to throw together, regardless of your level of experience in the kitchen. And it’s fun for the whole family.
3. Enjoy a Family Game Night:
This one’s not just a win for Dad, but for everyone in your family. Who’s not a fan of game night? It’s the perfect way to get your family off their phones and invested in real conversations—plus, laughter and good food will abound.

 4. Go Bird-Watching:
You don’t have to be a nature junkie to enjoy bird-watching! Basically, all you have to do is hit the neighborhood with a set of binoculars, and you’re a bird        watcher!
5. Host an At-Home Wine Tasting:
Calling all wine-loving dads! Take some time to create “wine scorecards” and a restaurant-worthy cheese board, then splurge on 3 to 5 bottles of wine in a range of prices and prepare to take notes. You can also do this party remotely—buy Dad his supply and then everyone else can stock up on their own, and then have your tasting over a video call!

 6. Take Him Online Shopping:
We don’t have to tell you where. https://www.dannabananas.com/
We know, we know: Most dads would rather do…pretty much anything else than shop. But if you send him a list of three different sites that you KNOW he will love and you’re pretty sure he knows nothing about, you might be surprised by how into it he gets. Once he’s made his selections, you and your siblings can pick up the tab.
7.  Make Breakfast Together:
Let Dad make the breakfast items you’ve all come to know and love while you cook your own Father’s Day breakfast. Together, the two of you will whip up a breakfast for the ages.
8. Play Backyard Games:
Enjoy your beautiful backyard and play some outdoor games. It will tap into his competitive side and it’s a great way to get active before a big Father’s Day cookout.

9. Tackle a Task Together:
If Dad has a creative side, plan a project you can do together. If he doubles as the family handyman, you could help him fix something around the house (and make Mom happy, to boot).
10. Plan a Bike Ride:
Perhaps one of the best parts about Father’s Day is that it falls in the beginning of the summer, when the weather is just about perfect. Go on a bike ride and get some fresh air while working up an appetite for dinner.
