Toronto Picklefest™ Food and Drink Festival

Before you dive into this article about Toronto's Picklefest, I was just reminiscing about a hole in the wall, or for some, a hidden gem, called the Pig's Ear.

I'm feeling nostalgic about the time I lived in Peterborough. One place that stands out in my memories is the Pig's Ear Tavern, affectionately known as "The Piggy." Everyone used to talk about this gigantic jar of pickled eggs on the counter, and my curiosity got the better of me. So, one day, I decided to walk into The Piggy during the day (which was unheard of) just to see it for myself. Unfortunately, this was back in the day when we didn't have smartphones, and I didn't have my Disc camera with me to capture the moment.

The Pig's Ear Tavern is quite a historic and iconic spot in Peterborough! It originally opened in 1865 as the St. Maurice Saloon and has seen many owners over the years. After closing its doors in 2017, The Piggy has since reopened under new ownership.
