It’s Poutine Week! What better way to celebrate than eating an extra large serving at your favourite Poutinery. It’s unclear who we have to thank for this delicious mess, but poutine seems to have originated in a restaurant in Warwick, Quebec in 1957. Legend has it that Eddy Lainesse asked the owner, Fernand LaChance to mix cheese curds he saw at the take out counter with his fries. Apparently, LaChance initially responded “Ça va faire une maudite poutine” – “That’s going to make a damn mess.” Adding the sauce came later at the restaurant owned by Roy le Jucep in Drummondville, Quebec in 1964. It is now trademarked in his name. A hardy à la vôtre to the great Roy Le Jucep!
Now you can celebrate the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and Poutine Week with Putin Poutine!
