Hanukkah Gift Ideas

Dancing Dreidels

Hanukkah  is the Jewish festival of lights.and is celebrated for eight days and nights. It is a rememberance of the Jewish people’s struggle for religious freedom. It started being celebrated in  the 1970s. It begins four days before the new moon on on the 25th day of Kisley according to the Hebrew calendar. The word  “Hanukkah” means “dedication” in Hebrew. Like every religion and culture, there are traditions practiced during a holiday.

Jewish families light a Hanukkah menorah, a candelabrum with holders for 8 candles, one for each day of celebration, plus a ninth called the shammash . Other customs include: eating fried foods such as latkes and sufganiyot, singing significant songs, spinning the Dreidel and giving special gifts. With the first night of Chanukah less than 11 days(December 17th) away, now is the time to choose some Hanukkah-inspired, unique gift ideas.
