Happy International Women’s Day! This day celebrates the social, economic and political achievements of women around the world. The day also brings international awareness to gender parity. According to the World Economic Forum, global gender equality is estimated to be achieved by 2133. Agnes MacPhail was the first woman elected to the Canadian House of Commons in 1921. In 1943, she was also sworn in as the first woman elected to the Ontario Legislative Assembly. Currently there are 100 women in the house of commons of the 338 member house (~29%). As you can see, that gender parity is still being worked on!
Women make up over 37% of self employed Canadians and that number is increasing.

Welcome to Danna Bananas, the wittiest little giftshop on the web. My friends and family know how much I love to buy off-beat, funky and unique gifts. I hunt the Gift Shows and every novelty and gift shop in town. Pre-pandemic, I planned holidays around visiting goofy spots and spent hours scouring the web for truly unusual kitsch or funny gifts.
People started coming to me for help with their own shopping needs and this is how it became a reality. Danna Bananas was the result of years of research and planning and wouldn’t have been possible without the love and support of my goofy-tolerant husband, Rob.
